History: Hard way Home

On the Hard:
Well there she is AY127 showing off her new bottom! We are the lasts ones in the yard as the botttom/blister job on the dry hull took 3 weeks.
Take note of the waterline, you won't be seeing much of it in future photos. After some discussion we only raised it slightly so until we haul again or careen somewhere we will be doing extra scrubbing.

A lot of work was done in May and June over the river in Buffalo. Complete bottom job, head/tankage, thruhulls, shorepower, mast head antenna and light, bay water pump, gland, shaft bushing, new batteries, and so much more! Of course we also rigged and launched along with an ongoing odyssey of engine work and general maintenance.

The Way Home:



Yes, this is me, and yes we are motoring into a head wind to get us to Port Colborne from Buffalo on June 24th.
I've said something about not sailing on a schedule before but here I am motoring away in bad weather!!! Only time will tell if we start taking our own advice.

This is actually earlier in the day going through Black Rock Lock (say that 10 X fast). The lock is on the American side of the Upper Niagara river to by-pass the fast current under the Peace Bridge.


Everything went well, except an engine "episode", that day and we got into Port Colborne with only part of the crew being seasick.
