History: Summer in St. Catharines:

So we made it home and now it was time to pack up and get down to the water front. Getting rid of your stuff is harder to do than you would think. It is amazing how hard it is to get rid of basically useless stuff you haven't even laid eyes on in years. It is an experience that is both liberating and gut wrenching at the same time.

So we had three weeks to clear out everything and move on the boat. We got rid of most of the junk but juggled some of it'till the end of summer.

We also put on extra crew to get the summer jobs done.













Some of the new crew were more productive than others!










In this picture you can see the new double bow roller, double lifelines and dinghy cover. We also added a stern roller, rebuilt pumps, added reef points /storm jib, and have hopefully finally worked out the engine/electrical woes. After 3 mechanics and hours of our own labour; fingers crossed, knock on wood; it is now functioning and all that it will need is some regular maintenance. We even got some practice sailing and living in on the boat.





So after a month and a half we were more than ready to get out and head to Toronto. The kids were ready to go as well. Even the dinghy hopped up on the foredeck and wedged itself in for the crossing. First however the tail end of Hurricane Ernesto had to blow through. So we postponed for another 4 days. Making a passage off schedule with the weather is a major breakthrough for us. Hopefully we can delay more departures in the future ;).



The next post will, excepting the cat, detail our vomitless S to N crossing to the GTA with no vomitting or water on the decks!
