East Coast to Charleston

Well, I am on the Sailing Vessel "Dragon Lady" right now updating the blog finally. I tried in St. Augustine but the Blogger was on the fritz. Dragon Lady is Bill and Cinda with their cute little Jack Russell Dante, they are really nice and we've had a great time with them in Charleston. We first met in the Bahamas.
Once we left Titusville we've gone slow and had many good adventures. A short jump to the Haulover canal and pulled over near the boat launch anchorage. It is literally covered with Manatees, they are absolutely everywhere.
Then up the coast and pulled over in creeks. Then to Daytona. A lovely day at the famous beach that everyone drives on. They had a splash pad for the kids and we went and took Mom out to buy two cool new bathing suits and dinner for Mother's day. Then on to St. Augustine. This is a really cute little town, very touristy and little shops, lots of ice cream stops here. I took the kids to Ripley's believe it or not. Matthew loves places like this and was just in heaven with all the weird things and facts. Rob managed to get a great deal on a jib for the boat so we'll see if it helps our weather helm problem.
Then outside and an offshore jump to Fernandina beach. Very smooth, no problems and did very well. We pulled in and actually turned north and went to Cumberland Island- this is in Georgia now. Cool island with a nice park, wild horses, old mansion ruins, etc. Very fun day. There was a lot of smoke in the air though from Georgia wild fires so we were waiting for a window to get out of Georgia.
After this up the ICW a little further to Jekyll Island. This was very cool. Showers, swimming pool, we had bikes to use from the marina and all these cool trails and toured the old town with the beautiful buildings. Also grocery stock up and checked out the beach.
Then the window and outside in the ocean and skipped the rest of Georgia and came in at Port Royal just under Beufort, SC. Went well again with very little swell and smooth sailing.
At Beaufort we took in the new Shrek the third movie- very cool and funny. We all enjoyed it very much. Then onwards.
Near Charleston we stopped off and visited Bob- the very cool and kind man that helped us when we were going south and we needed a place to stop during a horrible storm. We had a great visit and gave him a conch horn present to say thank you again. Then on to Charleston. We have just arrived and are looking forward to seeing the city for the next few days. When we got here Dragon Lady was there and we got together for a great dinner and visit. We had the most amazing Jambalaya and cheesecake- yummy.
Well, so far so good and we plan on continuing slowly and stress-free and seeing things that we liked and other things we missed. Hope everyone is well and I'll update again as soon as I can!!
