Leaving Emerald Bay

Well, the weather window has finally come after 2 weeks of steady winds here at Emerald Bay. So tomorrow we set sail and will head north into the Exumas chain and yes- unfortunately- anchor for yet another north wind blow!! The weather this year has been just terrible for high winds and has made it difficult to get around. The idea of going up the Exumas is that on the East side is the ocean (Exuma Sound) but on the west side are the banks. The banks are shallow and therefore do not get the large ocean swell and are more comfortable to move around in. Part of the reason of being weathered in here was due to very large and choppy ocean swell plus the winds. So tomorrow we head for the banks. We may not have internet for a while so I will update again when we can. Emerald Bay was a great stay. Reminded me of Wabanaki a little (the family camp we went to every year) with all sorts of families and great people. It was fun. We had many nice dinners with other cruisers, enjoyed a lounge with a TV and pool table, etc. Lots of showers and free laundry too! So we'll all miss the luxuries here.
