Exuma Land and Sea Park

Hi everyone. Just a quick update and no pictures as there is no USB port on this computer!!
Well since the last update we anchored for about 2 days in Nassua. It was interesting but not a place we wanted to stay long term! The locals all warned the cruisers not to venture anywhere in Nassua after dark! Once we finished internet, groceries, laundry and all those other reprovisioning chores we were ready to move out. Kismet- our buddy boat was not ready and they were going to do a few more things in town and then on to Rose Island- a little area near Nassua. We decided to leave first thing and see it we could sail to the Exumas.
Once out there it was wavey but then it cleared right up and was calm once we cleared Nassua. We were able to just point towards the Exumas so we went for it. We first went to Allen's Cay. They have tame iguanas that run right to you on the beach looking for food. It was pretty cool. The kids fed them bananas! Pretty neat experience. We went snorkeling here and saw really neat coral and huge, huge! spotten eagle rays glided by us!!! They were bigger than our dinghy! That night the winds came up and although we frequently checked our position and anchor first thing in the morning Rob got up and said-" I think we dragged!" Understatement of the year! We dragged back and around the corner right out of Allen's all the way into the banks!! How embarrassing! Oh well, we slept through it all and now were safe in deep water so we pulled the anchor- the chain had wrapped completely around the anchor and balled it up and so we pulled right out! Very strong current here and Snowday really spins around the anchor with current due to our full keel. Yikes, so off to Highbourne Cay. This was boring and we just had a day of boardgames while we waited out the high north winds of 35 knots+.
The next day off to Shroud Key- gorgeous, here we dinghied through mangroves to a lookout which was breathtaking- the water was such gorgeous colours. Then we dingied back to Norman's Cay to dive on a sunken plane wreck- a DC8 from an old drug shipment gone wrong! Now we have moved on to the Land and Sea Park- a protected area with reefs but no fishing allowed. It is just beautiful here. There are lots of other cruisers, everyone is very friendly. Tonight will be a potluck on the beach so the kids are looking forward to that. Some of the other boats have kids too!!
We'll likely update again in a week or so on our way to Georgetown. Next is more beautiful snorkeling stops, caves and the famous James Bond movie Thunderball cave!! We can't wait. Hope everyone is well back home. :)
