New Jersey, Cape May

Hi Everyone,
Well we are now in Cape May, New Jersey. Actually in a place called Wildwood. It's pretty cool, a huge miles long boardwalk right on the ocean that reminds me of Niagara Falls- haunted houses, arcades, food, etc. There are 3 amusement parks along the beach with 2 water parks as well. Today we just hung out on the beach and walked along the boardwalk checking it all out.
But I'm ahead of myself. We left Hampton intending for a day run into the next creek in the Chesapeake Bay but the weather was so good and going well that we said what the heck and did an overnight straight to Annapolis. So we skipped the entire Bay really and arrived in the morning at Annapolis. We had lots of fun there. Toured the Navy Academy- very nice layout for the tourists- we saw a very elaborate crypt and church, museum with Tall ships carved out of bones from prisoners of war. Future Olympic hopefuls training in their gigantic pool. We also enjoyed Annapolis itself, very cute town to walk around in. The coolest thing was that on the way in we met another couple on their cute sailboat "Hakuna Matata" and they invited us over for dinner!!
Well, we couldn't turn that down- air conditioning (it was over 90 in Annapolis while we were there), pool and great company. Their names are Chris and Rebecca with their cute little girl Rachel and they were so nice. They are hoping to do the same trip we just finished so they loved talking to us about our adventures south.
After this we went North about 40 miles and went into Baltimore. We really enjoyed this stop as well. Baltimore is a nice city, fairly large, I would compare it to the size of Buffalo, NY. Great downtown, all the trendy cafes with a neat harbourfront. You could tour a tallship, a large Coast Guard vessel and the USS submarine Torsk. Unfortunately the sub was closed so no tour for us but we got to park our dinghy right behind it! We went to their national aquarium. They had a spectacular salt water tank with a winding staircase going around it to view. They also had a Cold Stone- very exciting- my vet friend Trace will know what this is (homemade icecream that they mix on a block with paddles with any ingredients you want!). The aquarium had all the species of fish we've been seeing in the Bahamas and most of what we ate down there- spiny lobster, Nassau Grouper, Grunts, etc.
After Baltimore off to finish the Chesapeake Bay and up to Chesapeake City, very short stay, we left in the morning to catch the tides and weather. We were going to split up the Delaware Bay run but decided to go for it as the weather was just perfect. So here we are in Cape May. Rob loves it here and wants to relax and stay and wait for weather so we'll likely be here until Friday or so as we need the right winds for the next jump. Next for us is the ocean run to New York City.
The kids are doing very well- we are reading a triology out loud with the whole family everyday called "The Golden Compass" by Philip Pullman- it is excellent. They are apparently making it into a movie for Dec which we'll likely go and see. The kids have really loved the laid back run north and all the family time. Quite the change from when we rushed south!! There is so much to see in the coastal US and we're having a good time.
Sorry no pictures this time round, I'm at an internet cafe on the boardwalk. I'll try to write again in NewYork but it won't be likely until a week from now or so. Hope everyone is well! :)
