New York City

Well, we chose the weather carefully when we left and we did well. We did the trip in two runs. The first from Wildwood NJ to Atlantic City, then from Atlantic City to New York City. It went very well, hardly any seas at all to deal with. Not even a 1 foot swell with nice south winds. We came into NY in the AM and had the statue of Liberty great us! Atlantic city was an interesting stop- mainly for weather to wait for the wind to clock around. We anchored in a nice little area not near the casinos and they had a great beach to walk the dogs. The next day lots of power boaters were out anchoring for the weekend. We watched one as they ran their seadoo aground and then sucked crabs and mud into the intake!!! Rob went out and towed them back so after the live crabs were pulled out we all got to play with the seadoo!!!! Cool, the kids loved it. They were very nice. Later on the beach we got to see all the brillant minds of Atlantic city as they almost dropped their anchor on their kids heads as they beached their boats, pulling their huge power boat up the beach without an anchor and watching it drift off as the tide came in, their kid going flying off the back of the boat while its moving and just about backing over him, etc, etc. It truly was a wonder that these people function at all!! One cool thing is that the power boaters gave us the gate codes so we could do laundry and have showers at Trump marina. Pretty fancy, unfortunately no huge winnings at the casino!!
So after this we went to NY. It is so spectacular to sail into NY harbour. I recommend it. An awe inspiring sight. We stayed for 4 days. This time we went to the movies, had great dinners out and went to Central Park and the Museum of Natural History- which is amazing! The museum is nothing like in the movie, it's huge and we couldn't possibly even come close to seeing everything in one day. Information and sensory overload, a great place.
After NY we have moved up the Hudson river which means the Catskill mountains which have been beautiful. We are now in Saugertees and soon to Albany, NY.
Our engine finally decided to have a major problem 2 days ago in Kingston, NY. Couldn't have been in a better place- lots of service marinas. We were anchored outside in the Hudson and ready to go when I checked the oil. Thank goodness I did- milky and full of water!! Our impellor shaft is worn and has let water into the oil block. Well it only took 1 days to have the part ordered and the next day we used the dinghy strapped to the side to bring Snowday into the harbour. It went very smoothly and I had a few boaters tell us what a cool move that was. We did multiple oil changes and replaced the part and now we're back in business. And yes somehow this old engine is still chugging along. We thought for sure it had kicked the bucket back in Key Largo and then in Chub Cay but nope. 4000 miles later it's still going.
So we are doing well and we're taking our time coming into the Erie canal. I'll update again as soon as we can.

Having dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Abbey loved turning the sign over and getting things from the waitress!! She was always super polite though and the waitress thought she was adorable.

We were able to be there for the 4th of July fireworks. They were spectacular but a lot of smoke from so many so some were a bit obscured. Very nice. We really loved NY again, much livlier in the summer, we have never had any problems here and enjoyed ourselves.
