Ontario

Just a quick post before the computer signs out on me!! We made it home. We are now in Coburg and only one hop away from Toronto. We had a great time in the 1000 islands- it is so beautiful!! We'll update and talk all about things with pictures when we get back and have access to a computer again!! Just wanted everyone to know that we made it without any problems and now we have camp Wabanaki to look forward to. Plus we're going to take Matthew to Canada's Wonderland for his birthday!!
The 1000 islands were gorgeous. Tall islands with the Canadian shield rocks and beautiful trees and untouched parks on lots of the islands. The smell of pine was wonderful. The water is clear! Something that was great to see again. It isn't that pretty blue of the Bahamas but we got to snorkel and see the bottom again!
We squeazed into lots of tight spots- anchor out front and rode tying to a rock in back. Lots of sailboats didn't go in and everyone parks at the docks because they don't have dinghies!! Some people used inflatable toys from Canadian Tire as their "dinghy". It was funny.
We thought of Whisper- our great friends that we miss- they are in the Dominican right now. It was hot here- 90 with 60% humidity but I suspect they are warmer. But we dove into the crystal clean cool water- that's fresh water, no salt!!- all day and didn't even notice the heat. In the DR unfortunately you can't swim in the water due to pollution so I really felt for them.
Well, we had a great time and we saw another boat up here that we met in Florida- Knot E Buoys!! Pretty cool, they remembered us and said all the way back up people gave them updates about how we made it to the Bahamas and where we were!! Ray on Cadana said he had updates as well. I think being the smallest boat with dogs and kids made us pretty memorable- our 15 minutes of fame!
We are looking forward to all those things we didn't appreciate when we had them. Imagine showers, a fridge, heating/air conditioning, easy access to grocery stores, a car!! Not having to dinghy the dogs to shore constantly. We are going to be so spoiled. Rob and I are already talking about our next adventures and what would be cool to do with the kids before they grow up and move on. So many people just do the same trip over and over to the Bahamas but there is so much else in the world to do and see as well. I would like to return again but not until we see other things too!
We miss everyone and are really looking forward to seeing all of our family when we get back. We are 40 miles away so hopefully next stop tomorrow will be Pickering. But it may have to be this weekend because as usual lake Ontario is being annoying!! At one time today I looked out and said to Matthew- the swell out here looks like when we crossed the Gulf stream on the way back!! They definitely weren't kidding when they called them the great lakes!!
We'll do a more thorough post later when we're back with pictures and thoughts. See everyone soon!!!! :)
